Cleaning marble – how to care for marble floors, tables and bathrooms properly

Oct 23, 2026Dario Zanutta

Short answer: marble is cleaned with products that are pH-neutral to mild and always acid-free. Polished marble with stone clear UR 15 Floor Care (1–2 dl per 10 L of water, streak-free), honed marble with UR 14. Limescale in the bathroom is removed by the acid-free UR 27 Marble Bathroom Cleaner. Vinegar, citric acid, descalers, scouring cream and aggressive all-purpose cleaners are off-limits.

What damages marble

  • Acids: vinegar, lemon, cola, wine, acidic bathroom and limescale cleaners – they etch the surface (dull spots).
  • Abrasives: scratch polished surfaces.
  • Sand: acts like sandpaper under shoes.
  • Oil and grease: soak into the absorbent stone and leave dark stains.
