Short answer: first carefully lift off the candle wax with a spatula or blade scraper, then spray the rest with stone clear KE 67 Candle Wax and Stain Remover. Check after a few minutes and repeat if necessary, then wash with water and GR 75. If a dark, oily stain has soaked into the stone, OE 68 Oil and Stain Paste helps.
Why wax is so stubborn on stone
Liquid wax penetrates the pores of the stone. A crust remains on top, with a dark, greasy shadow underneath. The common tip of using an iron and blotting paper often just melts the wax again – and drives it deeper into the stone.
Guide: removing candle wax from stone
- Lift off: carefully lift hard wax with a plastic spatula or the RG 955 Blade Scraper. On polished marble, work flat and without pressure.
- Spray: spray KE 67 undiluted onto the residue. The strong pressure of the aerosol drives the solvents into the pores.
- Check: after a few minutes, check whether further passes are needed.
- Wash: wash the surface with water and GR 75 Deep Cleaner.
- Remaining shadow: if a dark stain remains, apply OE 68 Stain Paste approx. 3 mm thick and let it dry for 12–24 hours. It draws the grease out of the stone.
Do not use KE 67 in direct sunlight. Ventilate well – the aerosol is extremely flammable, so keep naked flames away. If in doubt, test in an inconspicuous spot.
KE 67 also helps with …
- adhesive tape and glue residues
- resin
- soot
- surface oil stains
Suitable for marble, granite, natural and engineered stone, porcelain stoneware, ceramics, cotto, concrete, mortar and brick – indoors and outdoors.
Frequently asked questions
Can I remove wax from marble with a hair dryer or iron?
We advise against it: the wax melts again and soaks deeper into the stone. It's better to remove it mechanically and dissolve the rest with KE 67.
How do I get coloured candle wax out of stone?
First proceed as described above. If discolouration remains, depending on the dye a second pass or OE 68 paste may help. Call us for stubborn cases.
How do I prevent wax stains?
Put candles on saucers or holders. Sealing with SI 88 Stain Stop Aqua makes absorbent stone oil- and grease-repellent – so wax penetrates less.
